If These Cars Could Talk: 1927 Duesenberg Model X Sedan

Join us for an in-depth look at the many automobiles in our collection and discover their part in our history. If These Cars Could Talk is a monthly program offered by museum staff for free to the public on the first Saturday of each month.

The Duesenberg Model A was already five years old and experiencing stiff competition by 1926. With the purchase of Duesenberg Automobile and Motors Company by E.L. Cord there were to be great changes. Cord desired a bigger and more imposing Duesenberg which would eventually become the iconic Model J. A mere 13 Model X cars were built in 1927. This rare Duesenberg sedan was first owned by the chief engineer of General Electric. This prototype body is equipped with rare features such as a hat holder on the ceiling and level-gauge on the driver’s door. The center flood light is used by a lever inside the drivers compartment and can aim in almost any direction. This sedan was one of two built by Brunn and Company of Buffalo, New York. Both sedans exist today.

This presentation will be held in the museum galleries next to the car from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2022 and is offered to all patrons for free with museum admission. For more information, including the specific location of the presentation, please call ahead at 260-925-1444 or see an associate at the admission desk.
